Brushing (Scotch brite finish)

Brushing, also called timesaving or scotch brite, produces a unidirectional satin finish on a metal surface.  It is produced using a 120-180 grit belt and/or wheel and can be done on any alloy of aluminum.  The purpose is for aesthetics, cleaning, deburring, and softening. It is very popular in the architectural, automotive, and food appliance industries, and is excellent for removing tool marks and blemishes on metal.
